Won’t y’all feel dumb when you wake up and it’s 40 and raining! Lol!
don’t ya feel dumb, now that we’ve awaken to snow!
I’d rather feel dumb than sorry when a school bus hits a patch of black ice and goes in a ditch. two hours of the school day is a small price to pay for ensuring the safety of our students.
well said chels…it may not do a thing but at least the precaution to protect our kids were in place.
Agreed. It’s all about the safety of the kids.
The delays make absolutely no sense. It is supposed to snow until about 12:00. The temps are supposed to stay below freezing til about 11:00. How does it make sense to come in at 10? The buses will be on the road at 9:00. Teachers have to be there at 9:30. From the looks of the weather reports, those are going to be the worst times to be on the roads.
Amen Chel!
Go to this site for the latest on this snow potential http://www.srh.noaa.gov/jan
No news on Lowndes County?
New hope wouldn’t mind if a bus slid off the road they make terrible calls
Anything about Webster or Choctaw cty schools closing tomorrow or delays?
Lowndes county bus couldn’t even bring some children home today due to flooding in Steens…will school be open tomorrow since the busses cannot even get all the children?
Columbus and Caledonia “libraries”? open at 10:30 a.m., staff reports at 10 a.m. I assume this means schools? Stay safe all!
No, it just means the public libraries and its branches.
Caledonia Libraries are closed, but not the school?
I agree, it is not a good message that the libraries have a delay and the schools remain silent. Not impressed. They should be the first to take precautions. A delay seems the sensible thing to do!!
yep it really is dumb we usually wait until last minute to say whether we closed or not but they should do it early instead of late. The reasons for this are because as said before roads are floody and it is just to be safe and people dont wanna get up in the morning or stay up late at night waiting to see if its going to be delayed or not ,they need to make a decision pronto
Generally, lowndes county schools don’t make their decision until the morning of. They don’t like to do it the night before because the forecast is a prediction, not fact. also lowndes county usually doesn’t do delays. The are either closed or not. Caledonia school does have their alert system in place and it does work. As long as they have your number in the system you will get a phone call if school is delayed or closed. These phone calls are usually made before or at the same time as the wcbi posting and in my experience thats usually around 6am. They do what they think is best, if you dont like it talk to the school board or superintendent or if you think its a risk then keep your child home for a day.
I’m needing to know about Columbus city schools….
Any news on college closing?
Lowndes County Schools are absolutely ridiculous. One of the worst county schools in the state, but I am surprised that they aren’t closed considering how the parents run all of the schools here. Pulling my children out of Lowndes County Schools was the best decision I have ever made. I’m just glad I don’t have to deal with the politics of that place anymore. Good Ol boy system at its finest! Safety of the kids should be the first priority, but sadly it is not!
I LOVE YOUR HONESTY! SO TRUE! MY KIDS WONT BE THERE!
I heard choctaw county would be out around 5 to make a decision
I am praying that these bus drivers and drop
off people use sense this morning and slow
down. Especially the bus driver’s who drive
like a bat out of hell!! The schools should
have just closed. The weather is just horrible
this morning.
Why haven’t y’all showed West Point school district yet??
The Columbus city schools have people that go out and drive every road in the mornings to see if its safe. They start about 4:30 am when there is predicted bad weather. I would like to know sooner also, but there is no need to call school off when it’s not needed and waste one of our other scheduled days out. Once wrecks started happening this morning on the bridges, they called it even though the rest of the roads seem to be ok. They want to be safe rather than sorry
Why not Louisville public schools? It is pouring like crazy and is icy on some of the roads!
Please update your ticker on the screen so that people without internet can know what is closed.
At least put something about checking online for up to date closings. Thank you!
THANK YOU! I appreciate all you do. I noticed you updated your ticker and verbally said something about checking the website for updated closings.
Any news on First Presbyterian Church Child Care?
Some of you need to be a bit more patient and wait for updates!! And you will get the info as they get it!!
