CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — From the banks of the Tenn-Tom Waterway to the edge of the Natchez Trace, Clay County residents soon will have a little more warning when severe storms might be coming.
The county has received a $141,700 Homeland Security grant for seven weather warning sirens to be spread across the county.
Local taxpayers will only have to match $7,000.
To try to be able to warn as many people as possible, the sirens will be placed at fire stations in Montpelier, Tibbee and Una, the Prairie Community Center, the District 5 barn, the Siloam voting precinct and the Unit 100 fire station.
