Video: West Point Names New Fire Chief

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — The West Point Fire Department’s battalion chief just took another step up the ladder. The Board of Selectmen tonight promoted 49-year-old Ken Wilbourne to fill former Fire Chief Johnny Littlefield’s spot.

Wilbourne joined the West Point Fire Department in 1990, and was promoted to battalion chief in 2001.

The city’s Public Safety Committee made the recommendation after considering seven applicants for the job.

“The next step is just continue moving forward with the progress we’ve made over the past 25 years since I’ve been there, and the progress we’ve made before then. Without the guys that are down there now, and the guys I’ve worked with in the past, we’d be nowhere,” says Wilbourne.

Wilbourne said he is both “humbled” and “honored” to have been appointed by the board.
