White Defeats Hawkins in Water Valley Ward 2

WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WCBI) – Residents of Water Valley’s Ward 2 return to the polls, for a rematch of sorts.

Former Alderman Fred White took on Kathleen Hawkins in Tuesday’s (8-13) special election.

It looks like White handily won.

He picked up 93 votes.

Hawkins received 58 votes.

There are 15 affidavit ballots, still to be counted, but that’s not enough to affect the outcome.

Hawkins’ husband, Ray, defeated White in the city’s May Primaries.

But, on the day before he was to take the job, Ray Hawkins had to step aside, because the position would force him to resign his full-time job as Ole Miss Deputy Police Chief.
