Winston Co. EMA Leaders Address Building Permit Rumors

LOUISVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) Louisville officials want to squash rumors and assure residents building permits will be issued as debris cleanup progresses.

Kenny Morris, city engineer, said building permits are being issued normally in areas with minimal or no damage. Areas with major damage will need time to remove enormous piles of debris before building can occur.

“We are anxious to see progress, but we’ve got to get these roadsides clear first,” he said. “Our hope is that two or three months will be the latest for some areas.”

Additionally, Morris said scavengers looking for scrap metal or other items cannot go on private property without permission.
