Morning Winter Weather Update

WINTER STORM WARNING | WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY | FLOOD INFORMATION

NEW_RPM_SNOW_POTENTIAL

The Wednesday evening RPM computer model is a little more bullish with the snow potential in our area.

Snow has been falling in almost all of the viewing area this morning. Roadways are not suitable for casual driving and extreme caution is advised if anyone has to venture out on the roads this morning. Our advice is to stay home and to not do so. One accident has already been reported due to the slick roadways.

Model data continue to suggest that anywhere from a coating to 4″ of snow  may fall this morning in the WCBI viewing area… assuming the atmosphere can get cold enough to support snow.  Grassy areas and elevated surfaces will be the favored locations for snowfall accumulations. Widespread travel issues are not expected due to the warm & wet roadways but slush could develop on bridges if snowfall rates are high enough.

The system will move east into Alabama by early afternoon and that will end the threat of precipitation in our area.  Skies should gradually clear from west to east and our highs may actually climb back into the mid 40s if we can get the storm out of here fast enough.

We would love to know about any snow in your area if it does fall tonight.  You can email pictures or reports to weather@wcbi.com or you can post them to our Facebook and Twitter pages.
