Video: Woman Who Wounded Deputy Appears in Court

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Brooksville woman accused of wounding a deputy after an eight-hour standoff is arraigned in Noxubee County Justice Court.

Elizabeth Guyton, 53, faces aggravated assault and other charges for shooting at her neighbor and wounding a deputy during the Oct. 27 incident. Guyton was shot in the leg and torso after she shot at Noxubee County deputies with a 22-caliber rifle.

The deputy received minor injuries and one of his partners returned fire, wounding Guyton.

She is being held in the Lowndes County jail, and her bond has been set at $120,000.

The incident began when Guyton shot at a neighbor who was trying to retrieve some stray cows.
