COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-The month of October is almost over, but that is keeping folks spreading awareness for Breast Cancer.

Mississippi University for Women’s department of Health and Kinesiology is partnering with Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle to focus on women’s health. Today Dr. Mathews-Smith, an oncologist was the guest speaker at todays luncheon to discuss the basics of breast cancer. Doctors can have different tips for their patients, but there are basic rules to preventing breast cancer.

“Talk to your doctor about it and to get screened if your doctor says to get screened at what ever age they tell you to get screened. I think that’s really important for people and I think everyday where you make healthier choices of exercises, eating healthy, keeping a healthy body weight all of those will be prevention in terms of breast cancer,” says Irene Pintadeo.

Tomorrow another session will be held with Dr. Chad Murphy who will be talking about making food choices for health.
