WPPD Arrests 1 in Connection with Alleged Weekend Stabbing

WEST POINT, Miss. (Press Release) — A West Point woman is out on bond after surrendering to authorities in connection with an alleged weekend stabbing.

At about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the Hut on East Morrow Street in reference to a possible stabbing.

Upon arrival, police discovered that a woman was suffering from a stab wound, and an ambulance was dispatched. The name of the victim is not being released and her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. She was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus for treatment.

The victim reported to the officers on the scene that she was in the parking lot at the American Legion Post 212 when two individuals allegedly approached the vehicle. One of the subjects assaulted her and fled.

The cause for the assault is still under investigation, but a preliminary investigation has revealed that it may be the continuation of an earlier altercation.

The victim quickly identified her assailant, and police immediately began a city-wide search. A short time later, police arrested 28-year-old West Point woman Bridgette Randle without incident after surrendering to police.

Randle has been charged with one count of aggravated assault, and has been released after posting a $10,000 bond.

Her first appearance is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sept. 30 in West Point Municipal Court.
