WPPD Makes 2 Additional Arrests in Point Place Apartment Shooting

WEST POINT, Miss. (Press Release) — The West Point Police Department has made additional arrests in connection with a shooting incident that left two people injured at a local apartment complex.

The shooting took place about 11 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Point Place Apartment Complex on North Forest Street.

Police Tuesday arrested 13-year-old Jarvis Shamar Robertson of 607 Glendale Drive and charged him as an adult. Earlier today, police also arrested 18-year-old Jerri Tyshawn Collins of 4501 Melton Bottom Rd.

Both turned themselves in to authorities and were arrested without incident.

Robertson and Collins were formally charged with one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault. They are both detained on $250,000 bonds, which is consistent with the others who were charged in the Point Place shooting.

Their arrest follows the arrests of 16-year-old Tommie Earl Malone and 16-year-old Tyron Cortez Coleman, both of West Point. They were arrested and charged Dec. 23 in connection with the incident. The municipal court judge set bond for both men at $50,000 for aggravated assault and $200,000 for attempted armed robbery; bringing their total bond amounts to $250,000.

All of four individuals are currently being held in the Clay County Detention Center. Initials court appearances for all four individuals have been scheduled for Jan. 6 in municipal court.

The condition of the victim of the alleged attempted robbery is unknown.

“We think we have all the suspects related to this case in custody but we are still conducting the investigation,” West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley said.
