LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) –  Miraculously, no one was hurt, but traffic was severely snarled on Highway 82 East, just in time for rush hour, Monday (10-22) afternoon.

The accident happened on the bridge just before the Main Street exit in Columbus.

Witnesses say a red Jeep Cherokee was traveling slowly, with its hazard lights on, when it was rear ended by a white Chevrolet Z-71 Tahoe.

The Cherokee flipped.

We believe Demarias Simms was driving the Cherokee, and Charlie Bell was driving the Tahoe.

Both drivers were able to get out of their vehicles, and neither appeared to be injured.

Cars were backed up beyond the Macon-Meridian exit.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating.
