LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI Sports) – Louisville is having a great year; the Wildcats have a perfect record thus far. Senior quarterback Wyatt Roberts has been instrumental in Louisville’s success. He’s been selected to the state all-star game in December and has committed to play at Jacksonville State next year.

The Wildcats’ head coach MC Miller saw potential early in the now senior quarterback.

“When I came here he was an eighth grader,” Miller said. “He was throwing the ball real well and we didn’t have another quarterback in sight. In ninth grade we thought we’d build our team around him.”

And here we are. The Wildcats are undefeated and considered one of the best teams in Mississippi. Roberts is the key piece.

“He’s the most accurate quarterback I’ve ever coached and I’ve coached some good quarterbacks,” Miller said.

Roberts has 17 touchdowns and only three interceptions this season. He’s racked up almost 1400 yards.

“It’s a great accomplishment, being undefeated in this part of the season,” Roberts said. “We’ve been looking at this class since we were freshman, growing and developing every season to get more mature. We just have to put it all together this season and continue to get better.”

And he focuses on what goes on in the classroom too.

“He’s one of the best students,” Miller said. “He makes good grades. He’s a role model for everybody. He’s never into trouble and he’s always leading the team.”

“It’s a big focus because in the end you have to have a good education,” Roberts said. “You have to have the grades to be successful. I put a big priority on making good grades.”

Could this be the year for Louisville? It’d be the first title since 2008.

“I’ve made memories that will last me a lifetime,” Roberts said. “These guys are a great group of guys, great coaches, it’s just been a great experience for me and I’ll never forget it.”

The journey continues Friday against Aberdeen. Tune in to WCBI’s End Zone on Fridays for the latest on the Wildcats.
