VIDEO: Zinn Going Pro, Signs Contract

PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — Pontotoc native Delvin Zinn made it official today, as he signed his contract to play professional baseball.

The Itawamba Community College shortstop will get his chance with the Chicago Cubs organization.

Zinn was drafted by the Cubs in the 23rd round of the 2016 draft.

Zinn played at Pontotoc High School before signing with Mississippi State

The past season for ICC, Zinn lead the Indians in hits as a freshman shortstop, batting over .400.

“ICC was probably the best time I ever had playing baseball…”, said Zinn about his experience with the Indians, “…Coach Carter is a really good coach, I was surrounded by guys I played with in high school…and [Junior College Baseball] competition is tough, which made me better.”

Zinn heads to the Cubs’ Arizona League team, and team representatives say he will possibly move up to Eugene, Oregon to play for the Short-A Eugene Emeralds.
