Former Nursing Home Worker Arrested

A former nursing home worker has been arrested in Tate County for embezzling patient funds, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.

Connie Morgan Belk, 49, of Sarah, turned herself in to investigators with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Tuesday following indictment by the Tate County Grand Jury on one count of Embezzlement. The indictment alleges that Belk, who was employed at Senatobia Convalescence Center & Rehab, took five checks totaling $5,696.49 from the Resident Trust Fund Account and converted said amount to her own use.

Belk was booked into the Tate County jail and released on a $5,000 bond. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years behind bars. As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
