Granting Wishes To Kids Dealing Life-Threatening Illnesses

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- It was a night to make wishes come true in Starkville on Thursday.

Hundreds from all across the Golden Triangle came out to be a part of the Make-A-Wish Annual Starkville Wine and Wishes.

The foundation is raising money to help send kids in the Golden Triangle who are dealing with illnesses on a “WISH” Trip.

Since 2010, the foundation has granted 91 wishes in the area.

“It’s an opportunity for the children to take their minds off the challenges that they face, and it gives the families great pride to see their children happy and not worried about having to go to a doctors visit today, or taking their medications,” said Jeff Adkerson, host committee member with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for Mississippi. “It gives them a break from the every day grind of trying to battle through those illnesses, and it’s very rewarding for them. It’s something for them to look forward to and helps get them through the challenges that they face week in and week out.”
