Video: MSU Student Killed In Apparent Accidental Shooting, Investigation On-Going

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The shooting death of a Mississippi State student remains under investigation.

Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt says Austin Powell, 23, of Germantown, Tennessee died from a gunshot wound.

Emergency crews were called to the 100 block of Maxwell Street, just before 2 AM on Friday.

Hunt says there does not appear to be any foul play, at this time.

However, the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled.

Starkville police and the coroner’s office are investigating the shooting.
