In 2015, the mission is to build off that playoff appearance and Cal has plenty returning to make it happen.

“I think we take the same approach we took last year and the year before is that we don’t worry about the big picture,” head coach Andy Crotwell said. “We worry about winning the snap in front of us. If we do that, we’re going to get better every week. If we get better every week, we’ll be in a great position to make the playoffs.”

“Everything is the best part about this team,” senior Carrlon Byrd said. “Our coaching staff is really good, our players have a lot of potential. I see us doing very good this year.”

Head coach Andy Crotwell returns a strong defensive unit but will have to replace four of five on the offensive line going into the new season.

Crotwell plans to combat the loss up front with plenty of speed and power at the skill positions. Mainly though, the Feds return a new mindset and a new culture that has been built under their head coach.

“The way we finished year one with a come from behind win, something switched with our guys,” Crotwell said. “They realize they’re never out of a game. Just keep competing. That’s spilled over into season two where we had four 4th quarter comebacks including one that got us in the playoffs.”

“I just can’t wait to play this year,” junior Spencer Unruh said. “Just to be out there with my teammates every Friday trying to win football games is what I love. I think we’ll have a good year this season.

With that love and want to play comes a new confidence at Caledonia: the Feds go into their third season under Andy Crotwell as the head man, as Cal realizes the potential and talent they have when they walk on the field.

“We’re a more confident team than we were a couple years ago,” Crotwell said. “More comfortable with what we’re doing and I think that lends itself to potential success. Like everybody will say, we need to stay healthy and practice well and keep morale high. If we do those things, we have a shot at having another successful season.”

The Feds will start the season on the road at Shannon then return for their home opener with Mooreville on August 28th.
