Video: Getting Answers; Residents Learn More About Potential Selling Of OCH

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- People living in Oktibbeha County are trying to get all their questions answered concerning the potential sale of OCH Regional Medical Center.

Days after announcing potential buyers, a forum on the upcoming referendum was held to inform residents in the county.

Greater Starkville Development Partnership CEO Scott Maynard, held the meeting for residents to gain an understanding on every part of the supervisors RFP and the hospitals position on the sale.

The goal of the meeting to make sure no one has any misconceptions come time to vote in November.

“In the proposals they are saying everything we want to hear. It’s fine dandy and rosy. It’s a good opportunity for the county. We need to get to the point where we can get to the specific things. Down to the language that we need to include in order for those proposals to be solid contracts that the people can be comfortable with,” said Orlando Trainer, a county supervisor.

“They need to tell whoever they talk with, friends and families what they they’ve learned. So everyone can be better informed when they go to the election on November the 7th to vote,” CEO Richard Hilton.

The issue will be on the November 7th ballot.
