MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — More than 400 people are wanted on drug and related charges in Monroe County in what Sheriff Cecil Cantrell is calling a historic round up of offenders.
The sheriff is looking for 499 people, involving 599 criminal charges.
For almost a year, the department has been collecting evidence. The majority of these cases involve drug offenses but investigators believe the suspects are also involved in incidents involving burglary, robbery, and fraud.
Cantrell says he has over a dozen deputies working on this and arrests will continue for days, if not weeks.
“You fool with drugs in Monroe County you’re going to pay the penalty of it. If you fool with them, and keep fooling with them, you’re going to be in jail. We’re not going to tolerate this in our county. We’re trying to make a good, clean, safe county for our citizens,” Cantrell said.
