Video: NMMC Makes Their Pitch For OCH

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- The potential buyers of OCH Regional Medical Center are making their pitches ahead of November’s vote.

The first public pitch was held in Starkville Wednesday evening.

North Mississippi Medical Center presented their case as to why they believe they would be the optimal choice for Oktibbeha County, should the sale be voted yes.

NMMC talked about their plan for the county’s facilities and the services they will provide for the entire area.

“We think because of OCH’s location in Starkville and in the southern part of North Mississippi and in central Mississippi, we see it becoming the anchor for specialty services for this part of the region,” said NMMC CEO Shane Spees.

Those against the sale are still skeptical.

“Those are proposals and they’re not contractually binding, and so, you know, they could be changed, modified at any time. If those services are cut, then jobs will be cut, and that affects the hard-working people of the county,” said OCH Surgeon William Smith.

No questions were taken from the audience. It was simply informational hearing.

Baptist will present their pitch Thursday.

Residents will vote November 7th to decide if they want supervisors to sell OCH.
