Grace Ybarra
Anchor/Reporter
WCBI Sports Team

Grace joined WCBI in May 2022 after graduating from Indiana University with degrees in both journalism and Spanish.

She grew up in Indianapolis where she attended the International School of Indiana for 13 years and learned both Spanish and Mandarin. Grace knew she wanted to be a reporter from a young age when she started out as a kid reporter for Scholastic Kids Press Corps. She later went on to join Sports Illustrated Kids where she covered Super Bowls, the NCAA tournament and even sat down one-on-one with Michelle Obama in the White House.

Grace continued her love for journalism at the IU Media School. She started her student journalist career as a sports reporter and editor at the Indiana Daily Student. She was also a sideline reporter for Big Ten Network Plus all four years where she called Indiana basketball, soccer, baseball, swimming and diving and water polo. Grace worked for Inside the Hall her senior year as an Indiana men’s basketball reporter and traveled across the country to follow the team throughout the NCAA tournament.

Shortly after graduation, Grace was named a second-team All-American for the Sports Talent Agency of America’s Jim Nantz award, which honors the best collegiate sports broadcasters in the country.

When she’s not at the station, you can usually find Grace watching Disney Plus or cheering on her Indiana Hoosiers and the Indianapolis Colts.
