Teenager killed in Wednesday night shooting in Lowndes County
ARTESIA, Miss. (WCBI) – One teen is dead, and another is behind bars after a shooting in Lowndes County.
18-year-old Jaquarious Dionta Brooks has been booked into the Lowndes County Jail on a charge of murder.
The arrest is connected to the Wednesday night shooting death of 18-year-old Jaraquist Cunningham of Artesia.
THe Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office isn’t releasing too many details yet, except to say that the incident happened around 7:00PM at the basketball court in Artesia, and that Brooks’ mother

contacted the Sheriff and requested she be able to turn her son over to law enforcement.
The investigation is still in its early phases.
