Two arrested in Oxford Kratom bust

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) -Two men are under arrest and a fugitive could be facing extra charges after narcotics agents raid an Oxford store.

Thursday, the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit received information that a store in Oxford was selling illegal substances.

Agents were able to conduct a controlled buy in the store. With that evidence, they were able to get a warrant for Puffs Vape, Tobacco, and Beer store on Heritage Drive in Oxford.

As a result of a search, agents reportedly found more than 500 units of kratom, an assortment of THC cartridges, gummies, and other suspected narcotics.

The possession, distribution, and sale of kratom has been illegal in Oxford since 2019.

Yahya Mohamed Mosleh and Islam Mohamed, both of Oxford were arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule One Controlled Substances with Intent to Distribute.

The business owner, Amer Alowdi, was indicted for trafficking narcotics in 2022 but fled the country before his trial date. He could face additonal charges as a result of this investigation.

The Metro Narcotics Unit says further charges are also possible for Mosleh and Mohamed.
