Science takes center stage at Hunt Intermediate School

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Area students put their science skills on display Wednesday.

Hunt Intermediate School in Columbus held its annual Science Fair Wednesday.

5th and 6th graders selected topics and built experiments and projects around their research.

The Science Fair gave them a chance to present their findings to their teachers, classmates, and judges.

The projects give them a way to take what they’re learning in the classroom and apply it in a different way.

“They’ll be able to explore – think outside the box – critical thinking with their science experiments, and get to know what they’re learning within the environment, inside the classroom with what they’re learning as it relates to certain standards they’re learning, as well as with the Mississippi curriculum they’re learning each day.”

There’s more than just grades and bragging rights on the line. The projects are judged, and the winner goes on to compete at Mississippi State University
