Girl still missing in Grenada County after over 30 years

GRENADA, Miss. (WCBI) – It has now been over thirty-one years since 10-year-old Karen Zhou disappeared in Grenada.
Karen was last seen playing outside of her home at Riverhills Apartments on Monroe Street in Grenada, on May 21, 1994, around 6:30 pm.

Her stepfather, Shindong He, went outside around 11:00 pm to check on Karen, but he was not able to find her.

At midnight, Karen’s mother arrived home and called the police.

Two children who knew Karen reported seeing her get into a van with a tall Asian man the day she disappeared.

She has not been seen or heard from since.

Shindong He refused to take a polygraph test and remains the main suspect in her disappearance.

Shindong was later arrested and convicted of aggravated assault in Nashville, Tennessee, for attacking his wife and Karen’s mother, Wen Hua Zhou.

During the attack, her husband told her that he had killed Karen.

He was later deported back to China.

Investigators believe that Karen was a victim of homicide, but were unable to find evidence to support that.

Her disappearance remains unsolved at this time.
