Non-profit organization in Jackson works to strengthen education systems in prison
MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – A non-profit organization in Jackson is trying to strengthen the education system in prisons.
The “Big House Books” is a non-profit organization that provides free books to people behind bars.
WCBI was told that it is the only books to prisons group in the state.
Each week, the non-profit organization sends hundreds of books to correctional facilities in north, central, and south Mississippi.
Vaughn tells WCBI that the impacts that the books have made on the prisoners were one of the purposes for starting the non-profit.
