Today marks a week since the University of Mississippi Medical Center had a cybersecurity attack.

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY (WCBI) – Today marks a week since the University of Mississippi Medical Center had a cybersecurity attack.

And the Center is still feeling the effects.

Regular scheduled clinic appointments and elective procedures are canceled through Friday.

Officials say the attack was ransomware.

Dr. George Trawick is a cybersecurity professor and cyber coordinator for Mississippi State University.

Trawick says user training and awareness are some of the best ways to help prevent these types of attacks.
