Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. gives back with community baby shower
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – For Global Impact Day, the Pi Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. gave back to the community.
The sorority held a community baby shower for those in need.
Saturday, families who needed a lift were able to receive one as the Pi Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. held a Community Baby Shower at the Child Development and Family Studies on the campus of Mississippi State University.
Past president Angela Buress-Stewart said this day lines up with the foundations the sorority was built upon and showcases the power of SHE.
“This is the power of SHE, which is our Social, Health, and Economic Justice Coalition, where we’re out making an impact everywhere. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., they’re action-oriented. So that means action. That means we’re out doing what we can for whomever we can.”
To do this, Zeta Phi Beta collaborated with the Clarksdale-based Diaper Bank of the Delta.
Lillie Hardine said they offer baby items, feminine hygiene products, and even adult items.
“We have free diapers, free wipes, free pads, lines, Pores, we even do adult briefs. And we have pull-ups, we do pull-ups also.”
The Diaper Bank also registered people to receive car seats and booster seats for those who were in need. Hardine says they travel wherever they’re asked to go to help those in need.
Stewart said this helps families free up resources for other needs.
“The economic side of this, it really helps those families who may not have as much. Who may be struggling to buy gas or pay bills. This is an opportunity for them to come out and receive some free items that they’re in need of which will hopefully help economically lighten the burden for the parent or the grandparent or whomever this event will be able to help.”
Hardine said if you weren’t able to make the event Saturday, you’re able to contact them and they will help you anyway that they can.
