Several counties remain under burn bans despite recent rainy weather

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – Despite recent rains, several of our area counties are still under burn bans.

The first of those will be coming up for review or expiring next week. Those include Alcorn and Carroll Counties, where the bans are scheduled to be lifted on April 6, and Tishomingo County, which comes up on April 8.

The burn bans in Lee and Montgomery Counties run until April 15.

Lowndes and Clay Counties have burn bans in effect until April 27, and Clay County’s ban runs until April 30.

These bans remain in effect unless county officials decide to lift them before the expiration dates.

There are some exceptions, and they vary by county.

Go to the Mississippi Forestry Commission’s website or call your local fire department for more information on those exceptions.
