Street closings to be expected for Columbus Market Street Festival

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Market Street Festival fun will kick off this Saturday, but preparations will begin earlier.
Drivers in Columbus should plan to take a detour.
Street closings will begin Friday at 6:00 am and not later that 10 pm on Saturday, May 2.
This will impact the city parking lot between College Street & 3rd Avenue South as well as Catfish Alley.
Additional parking lots will also be closed and emptied by 3pm on Friday.
This will include parking lots beside, Catfish Alley and College Street and the city parking lot behind the US Post Office.
Streets closing at 3:00 p.m. on Friday will include 5th Street South from Main Street to 3rd Avenue South
College Street from 3rd Street South to 7th Street South,
6th Street South from Main Street to 3rd Avenue South
4th Street South from Main Street to 3rd Avenue South
3rd Avenue South from 4th Street South to 6th Street South.
Cars left in restricted areas after closure time will be towed.
Parking spaces available for the public will include the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market, behind the Trotter Convention Center, Lot behind Trustmark Bank, Lot across from Columbus Light & Water, and other nearby public downtown lots and adjacent streets just outside the street closures.
Any questions should be directed to the Main Street Columbus office or the Columbus Police Department Main Street will remain open throughout the festival on Saturday.
