Event helps to understand home-buying process
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – For many, the homebuying process can be scary. But learning how credit and the homebuying process work makes it easier to navigate.
The homebuying process can lead to a lot of questions. What can I afford? How is my credit impacted? What can I do, and what can I not do?
However, Credit Consultant Glenda Richardson, BOSS Reality, and Jeff Jones with First Legacy want to help make the process smoother.
They held a credit event at BOSS Realty in Columbus.
Richardson says the one thing people don’t understand is credit.
“A lot of times, they think that your scores need to be an 800 or 700, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be that. But there is a mixture, and there is an understanding about credit that when you get ready to apply for a home, we look at the three credit bureaus, and there’s just a lot of things that go into making good credit.”
Allasia Lowe with BOSS Realty says the first step is always just to apply and see what happens.
“First, you have to come in and have a conversation with us. Let us tell you the process and make you comfortable with the process, and then from that point on, we end up being family outside of real estate.”
One thing that can cause the biggest fear in the homebuying process is social media. Thinking that because your friends, family, neighbors, and classmates have the fancy homes and the fancy cars means that you have to also. But Ashley McGregor, owner and founder of BOSS Realty, says everybody’s situation is different.
“Let your faith be bigger than your fear. Listening to other people and what they went through, you gotta remember that’s not you, that’s not your situation. You need to find what works for you.”
McGregor says that coming to events like this one can help people gain more understanding of how the process works.
