Auditor’s office sends demand letters to 10 City officials in Grenada
GRENADA, Miss. (WCBI) – Ten City-of-Grenada officials, former and current, have been sent demand letters from the auditor’s office.
According to the Exceptions Report from the Auditor’s Office, letters were sent to Mayor Charles Latham, former Interim City Manager Charles Weathers, Councilmen Eric Harris, Fredrick Wilson, Lewis Johnson, Michael Smith, Attorney Mary Brown, Former Executive Secretary and Interim City Manager Martha Profit, Former City Manager Stanford Amos, and Former City Clerk Lois Freelon.
Now some of Grenada’s officials have paid back those funds, but some have not.
The funds range from as low as $419 to as high as $54,000. Of the ten, six – Latham, Harris, Wilson, Johnson, Brown, and Profit have all returned the amounts in full. Freelon has returned over $4,000.
