Sweltering Heat Continues

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — As heat advisories continue to be in effect across the mid-South, summer-like conditions and sweltering heat will be sticking around for a little while longer.

THURSDAY: The high temperature for today will get up to around 98°, with heat index values up to 107°. Sunshine will still be abundant for today, with a UV index of 8. However, there is a 20% chance for isolated showers and storms in our area in the afternoon and early evening. The main time that some of us might see some rainfall is between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., but anything we get will be widely isolated in nature. Winds are out of the east-southeast at 5 mph.

THURSDAY NIGHT: Any lingering thunderstorms will clear out in the evening hours, leaving us with mostly clear skies and just a few passing clouds overnight. The low temperature will be around 75°, with calm winds.

FRIDAY: Tomorrow will also be a sweltering day, with the high temperature once again reaching 98°. Heat index values still likely to get up to around 106°. Some more clouds will be sticking around. A 20% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms comes back around for the afternoon and early evening hours. Winds will be out of the east-northeast at 5 mph.
