Hot and Toasty Outside

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — Toasty temperatures will be sticking around today into the weekend, without much relief in sight.

FRIDAY: Heat advisories continue to be in effect across our entire area for this afternoon. The high temperature will be around 98°, with heat index values up to around 106°. Skies will be mostly sunny, with easterly winds at about 5 mph. There is also a slight chance for isolated afternoon thunderstorms across our area. Not all of us will be seeing this rain, but some cities could see these small, isolated storms later in the afternoon hours today.

FRIDAY NIGHT: There is a 10% chance for showers and storms earlier in the evening. Any lingering thunderstorms will clear out well before midnight, making for mostly clear conditions overnight. Easterly winds will also calm down as sunrise approaches. The overnight low temperature will be 75°.

SATURDAY: A similar weather pattern to today…toasty temperatures maxing out around 98° tomorrow afternoon, with heat index values up to around 107°. There may be some patchy fog around sunrise, but it should dissipate before 8 a.m. Abundant sunshine across our area tomorrow, especially in the morning. Another 20% chance for thunderstorms re-enters our area in the later afternoon hours. and that threat of widely scattered storms continues into the evening hours. Calm conditions will strengthen a bit to east-northeasterly wind at 5 mph.

SUNDAY: Even warmer on Sunday, with high temperatures anticipated to reach the triple digits at 10o°. Some patchy fog could stick around sunrise, but should dissipate by 7 a.m. Some isolated showers are possible in the late afternoon hours for tomorrow, but skies will be sunny for most of the day.
