Several area counties under burn bans

NORTHEAST MISS (WCBI) — Grenada County and Lafayette County in Mississippi and Reform, Ala. have all enacted burn bans respectively.

Grenada County’s burn ban will be in effect until September 9, Lafayette County’s ban will be in effect until October 2, and the City of Reform’s will be in effect until further notice.

Things not allowed during the burn ban are any open flames that produce embers.

This includes campfires, bonfires, fire pits, fire rings, burn barrels, debris burning and field burning –because winds can carry embers up to a half-mile which can start spot fires.

Things that are allowed during the ban are propane/gas grills, propane/gas heaters and charcoal grills.
