Sunshine Today, Showers Tomorrow

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — These bright, sunny, and hot conditions we’ve been feeling over the past couple of days are still around, but moisture and showers comes back into the forecast for tomorrow.

THURSDAY: Abundant sunshine all day will bring our high temperature for today up to around 97°, with a maximum heat index around 102°. There might be a few passing clouds and maybe a very isolated shower or two, but skies should stay sunny for most of the day. Winds are out of the south at about 5 mph.

THURSDAY NIGHT: The low temperature overnight will be around 72°. Skies will be mostly clear, and south-southeasterly winds at 5 mph will calm down as sunrise approaches.

FRIDAY: Skies in the morning will be mostly clear, but aren’t likely to stay that way for long. Tomorrow’s high temperature will be around 94°, with a peak heat index of 102°. We’ll likely be reaching that high temperature a bit earlier in the afternoon than normal, as a chance of showers moves into our area in the late morning hours, and intensifies with more broad coverage of these scattered showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon and early evening hours. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 5 mph.
