Sweltering Heat and Sun, All Week Long
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — After breaking the record high temperature for Columbus yesterday, with temps reaching 100°, we can expect those triple digits to stick around through today. This sweltering heat is likely to persist for the rest of the week as well.
TUESDAY: The high temperature for today will reach 100° for most of us, with heat index values getting up to, or possibly over, 104° this afternoon. A heat advisory is in effect for today from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. for all Mississippi counties along and north of Highway 82. Skies will be sunny for most of the day. Winds will start out calm, but increase to 5 mph out of the southeast by the afternoon.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear overnight. The low temperature will be around 75°. Winds will be out of the east-southeast at 5 mph.
WEDNESDAY: This wave of sweltering heat continues, with a high temperature of 98° and a peak heat index around 103°. Bright, sunny skies continue for most of the day tomorrow. It will be a bit windy as well, with southeasterly winds of 5 to 10 mph.
