Heat Wave Continues
COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) — As the upper-level high pressure system continues to strengthen over the Southeast, heat wave conditions will continue to persist in our area through the rest of the week.
WEDNESDAY: The high temperature for today will be 97°. Heat index values will be getting up to around 104°, and possibly a few degrees warmer than that towards our northern counties, where a heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Skies will be bright and sunny all day long, with just a couple possible clouds later in the afternoon. Conditions might get a bit breezy at points, with east-southeasterly winds at 5 to 10 mph.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Skies will be mostly clear overnight, with east-southeasterly winds at 5 mph becoming calm towards sunrise. The low temperature will be 71°.
THURSDAY: The heat wave continues into tomorrow. The high temperature will be around 98°, with heat index values a few degrees above that. Lots of sunshine is in store, with easterly winds at 5 mph.
