New Multimedia Center opens at Lowndes County CTC

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The next generation of graphic designers, photographers, or maybe even TV anchors could be here in Lowndes County.

The Lowndes County Career Technical Center held an official ribbon cutting for its Multimedia Center.

The new Multimedia Program is a two-year program that will teach students photography, videography, and graphic design.

The goal is to teach them the skills they will need to get a job in one of those fields or have the basics they need to pursue further education in a 2-year or 4-year college.

The first year will start building the foundations of theory, design, and the use the equipment.

Multimedia instructor Katie Studdard hopes that builds students’ interest and encourages them to continue their pursuits in the field.

“In this year for all these year one students, they’re going to be able to get their feet wet in photography, graphic design, and videography, and I just hope that they will have a better desire for one of those, to hopefully apply for my Year Two next year. I just hope that they’re able to get enough out of the class to where they can kind of know if that is their true path, and they can dig deeper.”

Classes are moving at a pretty quick pace. Students will begin their first photo shoots next week.
