One killed, one injured in Verona shooting

VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) – One person is dead and another injured after a shooting in Verona.

Verona Police were called to a mobile home park on Lesa Avenue around 4:00 AM Tuesday in reference to a shooting.

Officers found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound to her leg.

They also found 31-year-old Devante Kapone Faulkner of Tupelo lying on the floor dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Verona Police say their preliminary findings suggest a dispute between Faulkner and the woman became physical and shots were fired.

Investigators are questioning two people in connection with the case.

The woman was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

Faulkner’s body will be sent to the State Crime Lab in Pearl for autopsy.
