Active Weather Returns

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – We have the potential to see rounds of severe weather across our area during the beginning of this week. Be sure to stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings.

MONDAY: After a dry start to the day, scattered showers and storms will develop starting in the afternoon. By the evening hours, widespread showers and storms will move into the area lasting through the early morning hours of Tuesday. Most of our area is in a Level 1 out of 5 Marginal Risk for severe weather for the evening and overnight hours. Damaging winds and small hail are the main concerns with any stronger storms that develop, although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

TUESDAY: After storms leave the area Tuesday, we’ll have a break in activity during the middle of the day Tuesday. By the late afternoon and evening hours, more widespread storms will work through the area. Showers and storms will continue through the early hours of Wednesday morning. Right now, our entire area is under a Level 2 out of 5 Slight Risk for severe weather for Tuesday afternoon-Wednesday morning. Damaging winds, small hail and an isolated tornado are the main risks.

WEDNESDAY: After Wednesday morning, light rain is possible for most of our area through the day. By the evening hours, a couple of strong to severe storms are possible in our southern counties. Be sure to stay weather aware over the next few days.
