Chickasaw County Community of Excellence receives big funds

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Chickasaw County Community of Excellence program received a check for ten thousand dollars today.

The CREATE Foundation and the Tennessee Valley Authority along with others, gifted the program with funds to expand.

Patsy Gregory is a part of the Chickasaw Development Foundation.

Gus Clarke is a member of the PACE Board of Directors.

Both say the funding is necessary to reach new heights in the program.

“We started in May with our Community of Excellence County-wide gathering, and we set up taskforces and realized that a lot was gonna go into it so we’re very appreciative of this money that’s gonna help us hire an assistant to carry these taskforces to the next level,” said Gregory.

“This Community of Excellence effort is designed to bring more of the county into the effort. And the money that we’ll get, as Patsy said, is going to enable us to sustain that effort cause that’s basically where communities run short on the resources that it takes to get things done,” said Clark.
