Clearing Skies This Afternoon
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The cold front continues its trek across our area this morning, but skies will be clearing pretty quickly once it passes through.
WEDNESDAY: Through the morning hours, showers are likely ahead of the frontal boundary. So, our Mississippi counties along the state line, as well as our Western Alabama counties, may get anywhere from a tenth to a quarter of an inch more rain today. By the time we get to the afternoon, though, the rain should be out of our area. Skies will be clearing after the cold front passes through our area, making for partly sunny skies for most of the afternoon. Today’s high temperature is 77°. Winds of 5 to 10 mph start from the south, then shift to west-northwesterly after the front passes through.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: With mostly clear skies, we’ll cool down a bit more than we have over the past few nights. The low temperature will get down to 48°. Some patchy fog is likely after midnight due to the high levels of moisture lingering in our environment. West-northwesterly winds of 5 mph will calm down through the night.
THURSDAY: Some patchy fog will linger early in the morning, but dissipate before long. Sunny conditions are in store for tomorrow afternoon, with a high of 77°. Calm winds will increase to 5 mph out of the north-northwest.
