CMSD student taken to the hospital after a traffic accident involving a school bus
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus Municipal School District student was taken to the hospital after a traffic accident involving a school bus.
The two-vehicle accident happened just before 7:20 am at the intersection of Winterset Drive and North Gaywood Avenue in East Columbus.
Emergency personnel, including the Columbus Municipal School District Police Department, responded to the scene.
There were 34 students on the bus. All 34 students, the bus driver, and a bus monitor were examined at the scene by EMS from Baptist Golden Triangle.
One student was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure for further examination.
Parents were notified, and most students reported to school shortly after the accident.
The Columbus Police Department is investigating the crash.
