Cold start to the week ahead slow warming trend

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – After a fairly eventful weekend weather wise, fairly calm weather is expected to stick around for most of the week.

MONDAY: As high pressure builds in from the west, we’ll have plenty of sunshine and less wind! Afternoon highs will still only manage the lower to middle 50s.

MONDAY NIGHT: Another night of sub-freezing temps is on the way, with overnight lows ranging from 28-32 degrees.

REST OF WEEK: A weak front will try to move into the Mid-South by Tuesday and Wednesday, but very limited moisture means just a small increase in cloud cover is expected. Highs will slowly moderate into the upper 50s by Wednesday and reach the low 60s by week’s end. Model inconsistencies for the weekend mean a low confidence forecast, but we still expect at least a small rain chance Saturday & Sunday with low pressure in the Gulf.
