Columbus Fire & Rescue looks to improve some aging fire stations

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus Fire and Rescue is looking to improve some aging fire stations.

Chief Duane Hughes presented a plan for new flooring at the city council’s work session.

Flooring was needed at fire stations three and five. Those are on Lehmberg Road and 31st Avenue.

The price tag is a little more than $15,700.

Hughes wanted city leaders to approve the use of fire insurance rebate money the city receives from the state.

This means the repairs would not come from the city’s budget.

The council will discuss the issue at its Tuesday night meeting.
