Columbus PD: 3 juveniles in pursuit crash after alleged car theft

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Three juveniles were accused of swiping keys to a car before crashing the vehicle in a pursuit.

The crash happened near the intersection of Highway 69 and Airline Road at about 4 p.m.

Columbus Police Captain Kennedy Meaders said the kids allegedly went inside a home on Moss Street and asked to use a phone.

While the juveniles were inside, the homeowner said their keys were taken, and then, their car was taken.

A Columbus police officer spotted the vehicle on the south side of town and attempted to pull it over.

After a slow pursuit and going through the Airline Road intersection, the vehicle hit a mailbox and then a large pine tree.

No injuries were reported.

The incident remained under investigation.
