Columbus police make a second arrest in a southside shooting investigation

28-year-old Willie Meady is charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon by a felon.

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police make a second arrest in a southside shooting investigation.

28-year-old Willie Meady is charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon by a felon.

He was arrested this morning and remains in the Lowndes County jail.

Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton says Meady was shooting at suspect Caleb Gardner as he drove away.

Shelton tells WCBI that during the barrage of bullets a car that had two small children inside was struck.

Gardner and two customers were arguing before the gunfire started.

Two people were shot and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardner is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
