Columbus public schools keep students, parents informed digitally

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Municipal School District is making it easier for parents and students to get information right in the palm of their hands.

“The new app that we have goes with our new website. It is for anyone interested in learning what Columbus Municipal School District is up to and what we are doing, and what events we have. You can get information for Fairview, Franklin, CMS, or the district as a whole,” said Mary Pollitz, CMSD Public Information Officer.

Pollitz said the district wanted to make information more accessible.

“It is a little bit easier to navigate. Like I said, it’s all in one place so you can have the school lunch menu. If it is red ribbon week, you know what clothes to wear. And it is interesting for any update on upcoming events so that a parent will know what their child is doing,” said Pollitz.

All of this is great for parents, but it’s also a useful resource for students.

“It will be beneficial for the students because they can see what they are doing. And they see that we are highlighting them and that we care about their success. And also, they might want to know what I do for lunch or when was that basketball game, when was that football game, things of that nature,” said Pollitz.
