Continued scorcher

COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – Nasty, brutal temperatures and humidity will continue into Labor Day weekend.

THURSDAY NIGHT: A few isolated rain chances will be continuing into the evening, drying out as the night goes on. Moisture hanging around will keep conditions humid. Temperatures will be warm, dropping only into the middle 70s.

FRIDAY: A lot like Thursday. A mix of sun and clouds through most of the day, with isolated chances for showers and storms through the afternoon and early evening. This should not be a wash-out situation, but may delay the beginning of football games if a storm is in proximity. Afternoon high temperatures will be back in the upper 90s to triple digits. This means it’s going to be brutal at the start of those Friday night HS football games. Gradually getting cooler, once the sun sets. Lows will be in the middle 70s.

SATURDAY: The beginning to SEC football. We BEG you to take care of yourselves! Drink your water now to prepare for the games you plan to watch in person or on your couch. HEAT ADVISORY maintains until 8p. Afternoon temperatures will be holding in the upper 90s. Heat index values will continue to be 105 or above. The UV index will be very high, we want to push the use of sunscreen too. Isolated rain chances will be possible. Have fun but protect yourself! MS State doesn’t play until 6:30p, got to make sure you feel good enough to watch the season opener.

SUNDAY: High temperatures will be in the upper 90s to triple digits again. Lots of sun with a few mixed in clouds. Isolated rain chances will be possible in the afternoon and evening. Low temperatures will be in the middle 70s once again.

Ole Miss plays Louisville in Nashville at 6:30p on Sunday. Conditions will be close to the same, if you play to travel to watch the Rebels.
